The Woodpecker Suite

Legend has it that the animator Walter Lantz spent his honeymoon with his wife Gracie in a cabin on Sherwood Lake, California. Unfortunately their post nuptials were disrupted by a noisy woodpecker boring holes in the cabin’s roof.  Lantz wanted to shoot it, but Gracie suggested he made a cartoon instead.  It was from this tumultuous primal scene of lust and violence that Woody Woodpecker was born.
